So bright, so sure, so true to your purpose…
You knew all along where you had been,
And where you would go.
Only you were not surprised
By how quickly you came
And took root in our hearts,
And then depart.
When I first saw you,
It was like seeing your mama
For the first time, 37 years ago.
Locks of sandy hair, almond eyes, and
Little ears that sat flat against your head.
You took my breath away.
So small, so helpless,
And yet emanating a powerful glow
That made me feel honored
Just to be in your presence.
When you were but one day old, I had a vision of you
As I walked the fields of Abba’s Farm.
You were 3, and running through the daisy fields
With ringlets like your daddy’s, but the color of your Mama’s hair.
You giggled infectiously as you
Ran up and down the hills with wild abandon, like your Tia, SaraJo.
I still have that vision every time I walk the farm.
I hold it close.
While we miss you terribly, and grieve your loss in every cell of our bodies,
The presence of your divine light was enough
To open each of us completely,
And to change our lives profoundly.
We will never be the same.
Your delicate body has gone from us,
but your presence remains. It is palpable.
You are a forever reminder that we are each ENOUGH
TO SHINE.
Thank you, Sequoia
Thank you.
Your Abba.
